Known Issue with Chrome Browsers
We’re aware of an issue in the latest Chrome and Edge updates that can prevent your device from pairing. Our team is working on a fix. In the meantime, follow the troubleshooting steps below.
With Vagaro's Credit Card Reader (EMV reader), you can easily accept Google Pay, Apple Pay, contactless, chip, and swipe payments. To start accepting payments, you must pair the reader with your phone, tablet, Pay Desk, or computer.
Vagaro does not integrate with other payment processors. Vagaro's EMV reader is available for customers in the United States. For international customers, please see Using the WisePad 3 Mobile with Vagaro Pro or Using the WisePOS E with Vagaro.
The credit card reader is not supported on Chromebook.

To charge a credit card:
-
Go to the Checkout
screen, or check out the customer directly from the Calendar.
-
Select a customer and add items to their shopping cart. For existing appointments or classes, the customer is already selected and ready for checkout.
-
Turn on the Credit Card Reader and make sure it's connected to your computer.
-
Select Pay by Card.
-
Have your customer pay for their appointment with one of the following methods:
-
Tap: Have the customer hold their card or digital wallet (phone, smartwatch, etc.) over the Credit Card Reader to make a contactless payment. Have them hover it over the reader to hear a confirmation that the payment was accepted.
-
Dip: Have the customer insert their chip card into the reader with the chip facing in and leave it in place during the transaction. They should remove the card only after you see that the payment was accepted.
-
Swipe: Slide your card through the reader with the magnetic stripe facing towards the device. Move it smoothly from side to side. Wait for the confirmation on the screen or a sound indicating the payment was accepted.
The Credit Card Reader will make a sound when the card is read.
-
-
Depending on your Checkout Settings, the option to add a tip and sign for the transaction will appear on your computer. You'll need to show your device to the customer so they can choose a tip and sign.
-
Select Checkout Type: If you have Contactless Checkout configured, the customer can complete checkout on your device or finalize on their device.
-
Tip: If you ask for a tip at checkout, the customer can select a tip option or enter a custom tip amount on your computer. Select Next or Charge Card to continue. If the checkout is with multiple service providers, the customer will have the option to split the tip as well.
-
Sign: If you require a signature for card transactions, the customer will be prompted to sign on your computer. Select Next or Charge Card to continue.
-
-
The customer can then choose whether they want a receipt from your computer:
-
Print Receipt: If you have a Vagaro Receipt Printer, the customer will receive a physical receipt.
-
Email Receipt: The customer can enter their email to receive a digital receipt in their inbox.
-
Both: The customer will receive an email and physical receipt. This option will only display if you selected Ask at Checkout in Checkout Settings.
-
None: No receipt given.
Note
The receipt options given depend on what you've set in Checkout Settings.
-
If you checked out a service, you will be prompted to rebook the service or return to the Calendar screen.

We use one iMac for the desk at our spa. The card reader is CONSTANTLY going offline, and the standard users have to log out of other users accounts to install the Vagaro Pro package. I have installed this multiple times on each account for our staff, and somehow it wipes itself off and we have to start all over again. Please fix this issue or tell me a troubleshooting method that might work to fix the issue long term. Thank you!
Hi Taylor, I'm going to create a ticket for this issue, and someone from our Hardware team will get in touch with you shortly.
Hi, We are having trouble getting the EMV reader to connect at all. This is the error we keep getting….Failed to connect USB device. Please make sure the device is connected to USB cable. errorcode:#8
Hi Rachel, this sounds like an issue with the cable you're using. You may need to try again with another cable and see if that works.
Thanks, Jamie
