Use the WisePOS E with Vagaro – Vagaro Support

Check out clients securely and process credit card payments quickly using the WisePOS E.

The WisePOS E is Vagaro's EMV reader for the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. For US-based customers, please see Using the EMV Reader with Vagaro Pro.

Connect to the WisePOS E (first-time use)

Remember that the Wise POS E connects to your devices using your Wi-Fi network. Be sure you know the name of your Wi-Fi network (because often, more than one will show up when starting a connection) for the setup.

On the Vagaro Pro App

To connect your WisePOS E:

Go to the Checkout screen.
Select Connect. The option to Select Vagaro Reader will appear.
- On the Vagaro Pro App: The option to Select Vagaro Reader will appear. Select WisePOS E.
  
  Select the WisePOS E.
  
  Follow the instructions on the WisePOS E wizard.
- On a desktop or laptop, the first pairing screen will appear.
Select WisePOS E, then follow the instructions on the WisePOS E wizard
Turn on your reader.
Put the reader into Admin mode by swiping right on the screen and entering the Admin PIN (07139).
Select your Wi-Fi network.
Generate a Pairing Code.
Enter the code in the dialog, name your reader (optional), and select/select Register Vagaro Reader.

The Successfully Paired message appears.

On a Computer

To connect your WisePOS E:

Go to the Checkout screen.
Select Connect, then follow the WISEPOS E wizard instructions.
Turn on your reader.
Put the reader into Admin mode by swiping right on the screen and entering the Admin PIN (07139).
Select your Wi-Fi network.
Generate a Pairing Code.
Enter the code in the dialog, name your reader (optional), and select/select Register Vagaro Reader.

The Successfully Paired message appears.

Take Credit Card Payments with the WisePOS E

After connecting your WisePOS E to your device, you can begin accepting payments.

Important

Canadian Business Owners - if your customer uses an Interac card, they will only be asked to enter their PIN when a transaction costs over $100.

On the Vagaro Pro App

To process payment:

Go to the Checkout screen.
Turn on your device, and make sure your reader is connected and the Pay by Card button appears. If it isn't, select Connect.
Add items to the customer's cart.
Select Pay by Card.

Canadian customers may see a selection box for either a Credit Card or Interac Card. Make your selection.
Dip, Select or Swipe the customer's card.
Complete the checkout process (tip, signature, etc.)

On a Computer

To process payment:

Go to the Checkout screen.
Turn on your device, and make sure your reader is connected and the Pay by Card button appears. If it isn't, select Connect.
Add items to the customer's cart.
Select Pay by Card.

Unassigning a Reader

When you connect a chip reader to a device, it assigns the reader to that specific device. If another business attempts to use that reader, they'll see a popup stating that the reader is assigned to another business. This means that the other business must unassign the reader first. Have the other business call Vagaro support to get the device unassigned.

Firmware Updates

Firmware updates keep your EMV reader compatible and current with new media.

Stripe maintains the software that controls the WisePOS E. The reader receives updates automatically from Stripe when not in use. As reader software updates are made available, update your readers to the latest version. Failing to install a required update can prevent a reader from accepting payments.

Leave your reader on and connected to power to receive automatic software updates. This ensures that updates happen at midnight (in the time zone of the assigned location) to avoid interruption to sales. If you unplug the reader at night, an update could start when you turn it back on. To manually check for an update, reboot the reader.
