This article explains how to install, connect, and troubleshoot the Star w printer with an iOS device.

Note
Due to the limitations of third-party libraries on Amazon devices, Star receipt printers are not supported on Amazon Fire Tablets and Kindles.
Prerequisites: This feature is available for all Vagaro businesses.
To set up and plug in your receipt printer:

Connect the included power cable into the inlet on the back side of the TSP100iii W, then plug the power cable into the outlet.

On the left-hand side of the device, flip the switch to On and check that the blue LED light is lit up.

Next, you should insert a roll of paper. Check that the power is on. Push the lever on the top to open the cover.
Note
When using a paper roll with a 58mm width, install the supplied paper guide inside the printer.

Insert the paper roll with the paper feeding from underneath (not over the top of the roll.) See the illustration below:

Pull the end of the paper out straight and over the front of the printer and push down on both sides of the printer cover to close.
To connect your receipt printer to your Wi-Fi network:

On the back of the printer, under the wire cover, press and hold the PAIR button until the blue LED light starts flashing.

Press the WPS button on your router. When the printer connects to the network, it will print the connection information, and the blue LED light will change from flashing to solid.

When a connection cannot be made, follow the steps below.
Star wireless receipt printers are no longer available from the Vagaro Store.

Ensure the printer is OFF.
-
Press the FEED button while switching the printer ON to perform a self-print. Release the FEED button when self-printing has begun.

On the printout, look for the MAC address from "Network Configuration."

On your iOS device, go to → and make sure that Wi-Fi is toggled ON.

In the device list at the bottom, take note of the last 6 digits of the MAC address, then select the device to connect.

A message appears indicating that the connection to the Internet fails. Select Join Anyway.
Note
When connecting with ad-hoc mode, Internet access is not available on that device.

The SSID will appear under Wi-Fi.

Open your device's web browser, such as Safari, and enter 192.168.10.1 in the address field.
(If the IP address of the printer was changed, enter the IP address that appears under "Current IP Parameters Status" on your test print).

On the upper left-hand side of the screen, select the More (3 lines) side menu, then select Login.

Log in with the credentials below.
Name: root / Password: public

The following message appears when you are using the default password. DO NOT CHANGE THE PASSWORD. Select Cancel to keep the login information the same.

You will be prompted to change your password after logging in, DO NOT CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD. After login, select WLAN Settings from the left-hand side.

Select Infrastructure Mode, enter your internet's SSID and Security Key, then select Submit to connect the printer to your network. Make sure to set Security to WPA2/AES.

When you select Submit, you will be prompted to select Save. Do not select Save at this step.

Select IP Parameters.

Select Static.
-
Enter the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway.
The IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway that are shown in this image are an example. The local IP address is the one your router assigns to your device and uses to communicate with your network. To access the local IP address on your iOS device, navigate to → and select the information icon next to the three wireless bars icon. Scroll down and locate IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway.

Select Submit.

Select Save.

Select Execute.

Your printer will restart and will stay connected to your network.
In some instances, you may be required to perform a master reset.
Hold the RST button on the back of the printer while turning the printer on.
Note
You should hear an initialization sound from the printer, indicating the printer has reset. The printer should then flash and be ready to print.

Test your setup by printing a receipt. Open the Vagaro Pro App, then go to → .

Select Transaction List.

Run a report, then select a transaction.

Select Receipt.
-
Confirm and select Print. If the printer is connected correctly, it will print out the receipt. If not, refer to the section that details connecting the device to the WiFi.

How can I manage the Cash Drawer option using iOs when printing receipt?
Will this hook up with 5G ?
The printer uses WiFi, not a Cellular network (which is where 5G would be an issue.)
Any updates? I would like to be able to use my printer.

The Star printer does not have Cellular network connectivity. In order to connect to your printer, you will need to be on a Wi-Fi network. We have no plans in the future to change this.

I’m sorry there must be a misunderstanding. I’m quite aware I need Wi-Fi. However since I upgraded my Wi-Fi the printer hasn’t worked . I’ve been through all the setup processes with no resolutions. I’ve reset my router. I’ve reset the printer I’ve had support walk me through it. There have been no results! It’s been a long time. I’ve been a customer since March 2011
I’ve barely used this wireless printer I was told I upgrade beyond the 2.4 ghz . Have there been any updates? I’m on Wi-Fi in a Small town in Southern Indiana I can’t believe I’ve out grown a wireless connection any longer. Sorry but I’m exhausted from excuses.

I now understand your question. The Star Printer is not compatible with 5gHz networks. The older hardware doesn't support it. Thanks for explaining your situation better, but the Star Printer is only compatible with 2.4 gHz networks. Your router should be able to run 2.4 gHz and 5 gHz at the same time. To solve this problem, you will need to call your internet provider.
