Set Up PayPro Duo

PayPro Duo combines PayPro with PayPro Mini to run Vagaro and provide a secondary screen for your customers to make payments and fill out forms. While PayPro is intended to be used at the front desk, PayPro Mini can function as a portable, standalone device to run Vagaro and process transactions. The camera on the back of the PayPro Mini tablet can also scan barcodes and QR codes. Optionally, the Vagaro receipt printer (sold separately in the Vagaro Online Store) can be paired with PayPro Duo.

After configuring your PayPro and installing the Vagaro Pro app, the Onboarding Wizard will show you how to set up and plug in your devices. If you don’t have some of the PayPro accessories on hand or would rather plug them in later (including PayPro Mini for US businesses), you can skip those steps and plug them in later. All Vagaro hardware and accessories are plug-and-play and do not require additional setup or installation.

Prerequisites: This feature requires PayPro and PayPro Mini and is available only in the US. An active Internet connection and Credit Card Processing are also required.

Note

Only the black version of PayPro is available for shipping from the Vagaro Online Store. PayPro Mini (US only) and the red edition of PayPro will be available in October 2024.

At present, PayPro Mini can only be connected to PayPro or used as a standalone device. You'll be able to connect PayPro Mini to a computer or laptop for checkout in the near future.

PayPro Hub and Vagaro Hardware

The main PayPro unit is also shipped with a PayPro hub that supports up to four USB peripherals, an ethernet port for a hardwired Internet connection, and an RJ12 data port.

The PayPro hub supports the following Vagaro hardware, all of which can be purchased at the Vagaro Online Store:

Step One: Build Your PayPro Duo

PayPro Duo includes the following hardware:

  • The main PayPro unit with a tilting screen

  • PayPro hub

  • AC adapter

  • AC adapter cable

  • PayPro Mini tablet

  • PayPro Mini dock

  • USB-C cable

  • AC adapter plug (not required for PayPro Duo)

To set up PayPro Duo:

  1. Lay PayPro on its side, then plug the USB-C end of the PayPro hub into one of the ports under the base of the PayPro unit.

  2. Press the cable firmly into the grooves and through the notch on the side of the base.

  3. Plug the other end of the double-ended USB-C cable into the back of the PayPro Mini dock.

  4. Plug the PayPro hub into the other available port under the PayPro unit.

  5. Press the PayPro hub cable into the grooves and through another notch on the side of the base.

  6. Turn the PayPro unit back upright, then plug the end of the AC adapter power brick into the PayPro hub.

  7. Plug the power cable into the AC adapter power brick.

  8. Plug the AC adapter power cable into the power outlet.

Step Two: Run the Initial Setup Wizard on PayPro

When you power on your PayPro device for the first time, the Vagaro Setup Wizard will guide you through the initial setup to ensure Vagaro Pro functions correctly and can connect to the Internet.

  1. Press and hold the power button on the device until it powers on.

  2. On the Welcome screen, select Start.

  3. Select a language, then Next.

  4. Select a timezone, then select Next.

    Note

    If PayPro is connected to the business's router with an ethernet cable plugged in, Vagaro Pro will automatically download any necessary updates and then prompt you to begin onboarding.

  5. To connect to the internet, select a network, then select Next.

    1. If required, enter the network’s Password, then select Connect.

    2. After the device has connected to the network, select Next.

    The device will begin downloading and installing the latest version of Vagaro Pro.

    When the Setup Wizard is complete, the Welcome screen is displayed.

Step Three: Run the Initial Setup Wizard on PayPro Mini

When you power your PayPro Mini device for the first time, the Vagaro Setup Wizard will guide you through the initial setup to ensure Vagaro Pro functions correctly.

To run the Vagaro Setup Wizard on PayPro Mini:

  1. Press and hold the power button on the device until it powers on.

  2. When prompted t

  6. Select a Network, then select Next.

    1. If required, enter the network’s Password, then select Connect.

    2. After the device has connected to the network, select Next.

    When the Setup Wizard is complete, the Welcome screen is displayed.

Step Four: Onboard PayPro

To onboard PayPro:

  1. On the welcome screen, select Begin Onboarding.

  2. Follow the prompts for each Vagaro hardware, or select Skip for now to plug them in later.

Barcode Scanner

Connect the barcode scanner and test that it is connected to your device.

  1. Plug the scanner’s USB cable into any USB port on the PayPro hub, then select Next.

  2. Test the barcode reader by scanning the barcode shown onscreen. If the test is successful, the screen will automatically go to the receipt printer steps.

Receipt Printer

Connect and test that the receipt printer can communicate with Vagaro Pro.

  1. Plug the printer’s USB-C end of the cable into the receipt printer and the USB side of the cable into the PayPro hub, then plug the printer’s power cord into the DC port and the other end into a power outlet, then select Next.

  2. Load paper into the receipt printer, then select Next.

  3. Select Test to print a test receipt.

    • If a receipt was printed, select Yes. The screen will automatically go to the cash drawer steps.

    • If a test receipt wasn’t printed, select No. Make sure that the receipt printer is powered on, that all cables are fully inserted, and that the receipt paper is inserted correctly, then select Test again, or select Skip for now to try again later.

Cash Register

Connect and test that Vagaro Pro can communicate with the cash register.

  1. Plug in the RJ12 cable into the port under the cash register and the other end into the receipt printer, then select Next.

  2. Select OK to test that Vagaro Pro can communicate with the register.

  3. If the register drawer opened:

    1. Select Yes.

    2. Select Next in the confirmation. The screen will automatically go to the card reader steps.

    If the drawer didn't open, make sure the receipt printer is powered on, all cables are fully plugged in, and the paper is loaded correctly, then select Test again.

Onboard and Pair PayPro Mini

Onboarding and pairing with PayPro Mini requires action on both devices. Make sure PayPro Mini is in its dock before pairing it with PayPro.

To onboard and pair PayPro with PayPro Mini:

  1. On PayPro, select PayPro Mini as the payment accessory, then select Next.

    Note

    When prompted to pair with PayPro Mini, do not select Next until PayPro Mini is in pairing mode (see step 2b).

  2. On PayPro Mini:

    1. Select Begin Onboarding.

    2. Select Pair with PayPro, then select Next.

      PayPro Mini is ready to pair with PayPro.

  3. On PayPro, select Next to pair the devices and finish onboarding on both devices.

    If the test is successful, Vagaro will finish the onboarding process.

Step Five: Finish Onboarding

When PayPro, PayPro Mini, and your Vagaro hardware have all been plugged in and tested, the main PayPro unit will display the following screens:

  1. The setup progress bar shows that PayPro is finishing the setup process.

  2. The welcome screen is briefly shown before you'll log in to Vagaro.

  3. The Vagaro login screen allows you to log in and resume your business activities.

  4. On PayPro Mini, the idle screen is displayed.

    Tip

    Set up a screen-saver slideshow of your businesses and service/class menu to be shown as instead of the idle screen.
