Businesses with a compatible Android phone can accept NFC contactless payments directly on your device with Tap to Pay-- no credit card reader needed. Tap to Pay supports Visa, Mastercard, and American Express cards with an NFC icon and digital wallets, like Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay. You can set up this feature in only a few moments to start accepting credit cards as soon as you sign up for Credit Card Processing.
Tap to Phone is currently available in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. This feature is not available to businesses in Canada at this time.
Prerequisites: This feature requires Credit Card Processing and a compatible Android phone or tablet.
Vagaro businesses using Tap to Pay will pay the following processing fees per transaction:

Small Merchants:
2.6% + $0.16 per tap

Large Merchants:
2.29% + $0.25 per tap
To use Tap to Pay on your Android, ensure your phone or tablet has the following:
- It runs a current Android version or Android 12 or above.
- It contains a functioning NFC antenna and chipset. Check if your device is NFC-enabled.
- It isn't rooted, and the device bootloader is locked and unchanged.
- It isn't in Developer Mode.
- It uses Google Mobile Services.
- A stable connection to the internet.
We recommend running Tap to Pay on a Samsung Galaxy S22 or A12 for best performance.
To set up Tap to Pay:

Go to the Checkout
screen.

In the bottom-left corner, select → .
Note
Make sure you've turned off your reader before starting.
- Select Get Started.
- Select Start Accepting Tap to Pay.
The Pay by Card button will change from black to blue.
If you've already set up Tap to Pay on your device, you can process payments from the Checkout screen.
Important
When charging credit cards with tap to phone, ensure your Vagaro Pro app and iOS version are up-to-date. Also, remove any personal credit cards near or attached to your phone to avoid accidental charges.
To charge a customer with Tap to Pay:

Go to the Checkout
screen, or check out the customer directly from the Calendar.

Select a customer and add items to their shopping cart. For existing appointments or classes, the customer is already selected and ready for checkout.

In the bottom-left corner, select Tap to Pay. The Tip screen appears.
Note
If you don't see Tap to Pay, make sure you have connected to Tap to Pay or unassigned your credit card reader.
- Have the customer enter their tip amount. The Tap to Pay screen appears.

Show your phone to the customer and have them tap their device or card on the back of your device. When the process is complete, the Approved screen appears.
- Optionally, send the receipt to the customer.
If you're having trouble with charging cards with tap to phone, make sure you have done the following:
- Make sure your phone meets the tap-to-phone requirements.
- Turn on NFC on your phone. Here are some steps for Google and Samsung devices.
- Make sure the customer's credit card has an NFC
symbol.
- Ensure the customer's phone or card is touching your device. The chip on the card should be facing your device's camera.
- Take off your phone case or ask the customer to take off their case as well.
