Switch Between Tap to Pay and a Credit Card Reader – Vagaro Support

You can choose to connect to a credit card reader or use Tap to Pay. Both can't be connected at the same time. To switch between the two, you must either unassign the reader from your device or turn off Tap to Phone.

Note

If you turn off Tap to Phone and decide to turn it back on later, you will not need to reconnect your Apple ID with Vagaro.

Prerequisites: You must have already set up Tap to Pay on your device.

Turn Off Tap to Pay or Disconnect Reader

To turn off tap to pay or disconnect the reader:

Open the Vagaro Pro App, then go to More → Connected Devices.
Select Tap to Pay on iPhone or choose your reader.
Turn off tap to pay or disconnect the reader:
Select Unassign Tap to Pay on (iPhone/Android) or Unassign Credit Card Reader.

After disconnecting Tap to Phone from your device, you can connect to a credit card reader, if applicable.

Connect Your Reader or Activate Tap to Pay

You'll need to reactivate Tap to Pay or pair to your reader.

Reactivate Tap to Pay

To reactivate Tap to Phone:

Go to the Checkout screen.
In the bottom-left corner, select Pay by Card → Tap to Pay on iPhone.

Note

Make sure you've turned off your reader before starting.

Reconnect to Credit Card Reader

To pair your EMV reader:

Turn on the reader by quickly pressing the power button.
- EMV Reader+: When powered on, the reader will flash blue and beep three times.
- EMV Reader: When powered on, the reader will flash Blue, Green, and Red.
Go to the Checkout screen, then select Pay by Card.
The option to select a Vagaro reader will appear. Select EMV Reader.
Continue with the EMV reader+ or EMV reader steps below.
Begin the Bluetooth pairing process. Vagaro Pro will begin searching for EMV readers nearby.
- If no reader is found, make sure that your EMV reader is turned on and is not paired to other devices.
- If your reader is still not found, please see the Troubleshooting the EMV Reader article or contact Vagaro Support.
When found, the Pair with Code screen will appear. Find the BT Passkey printed on the back of your reader, then select Continue.
Enter the BT Passkey to pair the device.

After pairing with your device, a Successfully Paired screen will appear and return you to the Checkout screen. The Pay by Card button will change from black to blue. You can now select Pay by Card to charge a customer. To learn more, see Charging a Credit Card.
