Vagaro has partnered with ScriptSure to give providers the ability to electronically send prescriptions to any retail or mail-order pharmacy connected to the Surescripts network. With E-Prescribe, you can also print prescriptions when needed. The system is designed with ease of use in mind, requiring no advanced computer skills. Every prescription medication, injectable, over-the-counter product, and vitamin is pre-programmed, along with the most common SIGs (directions for use). Pharmacies nationwide are already included in the database.
To comply with DEA regulations for Electronic Prescriptions for Controlled Substances (EPCS), providers must complete identity verification. Vagaro has partnered with ID.me to handle this process securely. Once verified, providers receive DEA-compliant credentials that allow them to issue controlled substance prescriptions through E-Prescribe. ID.me is a trusted digital identity network, certified under NIST 800‐63‐3, and used by more than 300 organizations, including healthcare systems, government agencies, and financial institutions. Verification is a one-time process—once your identity is confirmed, you won’t need to reverify when using ID.me across supported platforms.
The pricing for E-Prescribe depends on the number of doctors and medical assistants you've added to Vagaro, with the pricing being $40 per month per doctor and an additional $5 per month per medical assistant.
-
Doctors can send prescriptions directly to pharmacies.
-
Medical Assistants help manage and prepare prescriptions for prescriber approval.
If you already have a ScriptSure account, please email the ScriptSure support team at support@dawsystems.com to request a migration over to Vagaro.
Important
If a DEA number is entered for a provider and they intend to prescribe controlled substances, their EPCS Permissions must be approved by a Full Admin user other than the provider themselves. This process is a DEA requirement and must be followed. The person approving can be anyone, including a friend, spouse, family member, etc. You can create a medical assistant account for them, and then the user can be inactivated if they will not be using E-Prescribe.

Multi‐factor authentication adds a layer of security to your account by associating something that you have with your account. For future ID.me logins (and for e‐prescribing from within e-Prescribe), you will authenticate with the MFA/2FA method and/or device you set up in this step. Be sure to use a device you plan to have on your person when e‐prescribing.
Note
Vagaro recommends choosing Push Notification. Push Notifications appear as a banner on your device upon signing in, which you tap to authenticate yourself. To set this up, you will be required to download the free ID.me Authenticator app from the App Store or Google Play. If you’re unable to use the ID.me Authenticator app, choose passkey MFA, the safest MFA method available. You may also choose from the other methods listed.
-
After setting up your MFA/2FA method, the Your Account is Now Secure screen will appear. Generate a recovery code in case you lose access to your MFA/2FA device for the account. Copy or download your recovery code, and then select Continue.
After creating your ID.me account and setting up MFA/2FA, the Verify Your Identity screen will appear, where you're prompted to upload evidence of your identity. You will also be asked to enter your SSN. Information entered into ID. This information is encrypted while at rest and in transit, and completing the verification process will not hurt your credit score.
If asked to enter a phone number, attempt to enter a phone number for a device that is in your possession and may be associated with you in financial records. This device does not have to be the same device utilized for MFA/2FA.
To upload an identity document:
-
From the Verify Your Identity screen, choose a verification method, such as a driver's license.
-
Acknowledge the terms, then select Continue.
