On Vagaro, you can create multiple tax rates, apply them to your services, and enable tax-inclusive pricing.

This article is not intended nor meant to provide advice on what services or products require tax. Tax rates differ by jurisdiction, so please review all relevant laws and regulations before creating or editing any tax rates.

For new US businesses, "Sales Tax" will automatically populate without a tax percentage.

For new Canadian businesses, "GST," "HST," and "PST" will automatically populate without a tax percentage.

For new UK businesses, the "VAT" tax will automatically populate with a tax percentage of 20%.

For new Australian businesses, the "GST" tax will automatically populate with a tax percentage of 10%.
Prerequisites: This feature is available for all Vagaro businesses.
The steps below will show you how to create a new tax rate. It will explain how to enter a tax name and percentage, save your tax rate, and how to modify or delete it later.
To create a new tax rate:

From the Taxes & Checkout page, scroll down to the Include Tax in Online Pricing setting and enable it. This setting shows the total price of a service (including tax) on your Vagaro Listing Page.
After assigning taxes to your services, classes, products, and other items, you can enter the total price (Price (with Tax)), instead of the price before tax for the things you sell.
To apply taxes to products, you'll need to attach the tax to each product. If you want to speed up the process, you can mass-edit all your products and apply your new tax rate at once from a computer, tablet, Pay Desk, or PayPro.
To apply tax to products:

Select the product you want to edit.

In the top-right corner, select → .

Next to Tax, select Add Tax or any taxes you applied.

Select the tax rate(s) to be applied, then select Done.

Make any additional changes to your product, then select Save.

Repeat this step for all other products.
To apply tax to products:

Go to Inventory Management:

Computer: Select → .

Tablet, Pay Desk, or PayPro: Select Inventory

In the Edit menu, select Mass Edit, and then Tax.

Select the Brand and Product Category you want to update, then apply your Tax.

Select Apply when finished.

Select Save in the bottom-right corner to save your changes.
Follow the steps below to apply your new tax rate to your services and classes.
To apply tax to services and classes:

Go to Inventory Management:

Computer: Select → .

Tablet, Pay Desk, or PayPro: Select Inventory

Select Services or Classes. In this example, we will select Services.

Select the service or class you want to change.

Expand the Tax drop-down menu and select up to four tax entries.

Select Save in the bottom-right corner.
Follow the steps below to apply your new tax rate to the memberships and packages you sell.
To apply tax to memberships and packages:

Go to Settings
, then in Things We Sell, select Memberships or Packages.

Select the membership or package to be edited.
-
Expand the Tax drop-down menu and select the tax rate you want to apply.

Select Save to finish.
When checking out customers, you can remove and reapply tax rates from the Checkout screen.
To remove tax at checkout:

Go to the Checkout
screen, or check out the customer directly from the Calendar.

Select a customer and add items to their shopping cart. For existing appointments or classes, the customer is already selected and ready for checkout.

Select the Tax field.

Select the tax rate you want to remove.

Select Remove, then select Save.
To remove tax at checkout:

Go to the Checkout
screen, or check out the customer directly from the Calendar.

Select a customer and add items to their shopping cart. For existing appointments or classes, the customer is already selected and ready for checkout.

Select the Tax field.

Select the Action
icon next to the tax you want to remove, then select Remove Tax.

Select Remove, then Save to confirm.
