Add a Connect by Vagaro chat widget to your own website so visitors can message your business without leaving your site. This works with WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy, and most other website builders.
Messages from the widget go straight to Connect by Vagaro. That's the same inbox your team already uses for messages from your Vagaro booking page, the Vagaro app, and text messages. Your team can reply from the Connect app on a phone or tablet, or on the web by selecting the Chat Bubble button in the top-right corner. Because every conversation lives in one place, you don't need to check a separate website inbox or contact form.
The widget helps you:
-
Answer questions in the moment: Visitors can ask about services, pricing, or availability while they're already on your site, instead of leaving to call or look elsewhere.
-
Turn website visitors into customers: Each chat is a chance to answer a question and send the visitor your booking link.
-
Keep your brand consistent: Match the widget's color, appearance, and icon to your website.
Vera Receptionist, Vagaro's AI chatbot, can reply to widget messages for you. In your Vera Receptionist settings, you can set Vera to reply to all chats, only outside your business hours, or on a custom schedule, so website visitors get an answer even when your team is busy or the business is closed.
Prerequisites: This feature is available for all Vagaro businesses. Optionally, Vera Receptionist is required to have Vera reply to widget messages.
To generate the widget code:
-
Select → .
-
If your business has one location, skip this step. If your business has multiple locations, select whether to create a widget for This location or Multi-location:
-
This location: Messages go only to this location's inbox. If you have Vera Receptionist, Vera answers using only this location's information.
-
Multi-location: Customers can choose which location to message. Use the Select Locations list to select the locations to include in the widget. If you have Vera Receptionist, Vera answers only questions about the location the customer selects.
-
-
Set a Theme Color. Use a color that matches your website so the widget looks like part of your site.
-
Select the Appearance:
-
Light Mode: Display the widget in light mode.
-
Dark Mode: Display the widget in dark mode.
-
System: Match the widget's appearance to the light or dark mode setting on the visitor's device.
-
-
Optionally, enter the Widget Text. This text doesn't appear on mobile devices.
-
Optionally, select a different Widget Icon.
-
Select Save and Generate Code.
Vagaro generates the widget code for your website. Copy the code, and then add it to your website.
To add the widget, sign in to your website builder and paste the code into its footer code area or its site-wide custom code setting. This makes the widget appear on every page of your website. The following articles explain how to add custom code in popular website builders. Steps vary by builder, theme, and plan, and some builders allow custom code only on paid plans. These articles belong to each builder, so if your screens look different, contact your website builder's support team for help.
Tip
After you publish your website changes, open your website in a new browser window to confirm the widget appears. Send a test message from the widget, and then check that it arrives in Connect by Vagaro.
If the widget doesn't appear, make sure you published your website changes, open your website in a private browser window, and confirm that you pasted the complete code.
