Reader Rental Fee – Vagaro Support

Learn about the monthly Reader Rental Fee, who it applies to, and how to keep your card reader active.

Vagaro offers a free card reader or discounted hardware to qualifying businesses that sign up for Credit Card Processing. To keep this program sustainable, businesses that received discounted hardware are charged a $10 monthly Reader Rental Fee if they process less than $1,000 the previous month. Since the average Vagaro merchant processes $8,200/month, most businesses will never be charged this fee.

Will I be Charged a Fee?

The Reader Rental Fee only in the following scenarios:

You are located in the United States.
You ordered a free credit card reader or got $150 off hardware through the Credit Card Processing Promotion.
Your business is on a small-merchant plan.
Your business processed less than $1,000 in card transactions during the previous month.
You're still within the 12-month contract.
There is no fee for the month you receive your hardware, regardless of your processing volume.

If you process $1,000 or more in card transactions in a month, no fee applies for that month. Large merchant accounts are not charged the Reader Rental Fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why was I charged $10 this month?: Your business processed less than $1,000 in card transactions for at least one month this year. The fee applies only to months below the minimum. If you meet the minimum this month, you won't be charged next month.
I just received my hardware. Will I be charged right away?: No. Your first month is always exempt, no matter how much you process.
I canceled my merchant services account. Will I still be charged?: The fee only applies while your account is active. If you cancel within the 12-month term and are charged the $150 early-cancellation fee, the Reader Rental Fee will not be charged in the same month.
Where can I see the fee on my account?: The fee appears in your Deposit Report.
I have booth renters with their own merchant account. Will I be charged?: No, the fee is only applied to the merchant account owner.
If I have multiple merchant accounts, am I charged the fee once?: Yes, the Credit Card Processing Promotion only applies once per person.
I got a discount on a PayPro Mini. Am I still charged a fee?: Yes, if you purchased discounted hardware with the program instead of a PayPro Go, you will still be charged a fee if you don't meet the criteria above.
