If you received a B Notice, also called an IRS B Notice, it was sent by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to inform you, a taxpayer, of a discrepancy between the name and the Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) provided on certain tax forms. This discrepancy could be on forms like the Form 1099 series.
Receiving a B Notice indicates that the IRS has found a mismatch between the taxpayer's name and TIN combination and what the IRS has on record. If not addressed promptly and corrected with the Merchant Services, this can lead to consequences such as backup withholding of funds until the issue is resolved.
Important
Refer to the B Notice you received for information on the correction deadline. Unless your business has a B1 notice on your merchant account, we can no longer accept Form W-9 for the current tax year after June 30 to update your Form 1099. For corrections to 1099s for the current and prior tax years, you will need to consult with a tax specialist for guidance.
B1 Notice: Issued when a discrepancy is identified for the first time within a 3-year period. To correct a B1 notice, send a filled-out W-9 form to support@vagaro.com.

B2 Notice: Issued when a discrepancy is identified for the 2nd or 3rd time within a 3-year period. To correct a B2 notice, send the following to support@vagaro.com:
-
When correcting your EIN, send an SS4 form (Letter from the IRS assigning the EIN) or a 147c letter (EIN verification letter).
-
When correcting your Social Security Number (SSN), send a picture of your SSN card.
Important
A W-9 is NOT acceptable for correction for B2 Notices.
