The WisePad 3 Mobile is Vagaro's credit card (EMV) reader for businesses in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia to check out clients securely and process credit card payments with the Vagaro Pro app. For US-based customers, refer to Pair the Credit Card (EMV) Reader with Vagaro Pro.
Note
This device is for iOS and Android phones and tablets only and cannot be connected to a PC or laptop.
The WisePad 3 credit card reader is incompatible with the PayPro. You will need the WisePOS E instead, which is available from the Vagaro Online Store.
Prerequisites: This hardware is only available for Vagaro businesses in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
Important
For Canadian business owners, if your customer is using an Interac card, they will only be asked to enter their PIN if the transaction is over $100.
To process a payment using the WisePad 3 Mobile:
-
At the bottom of the screen, Checkout.
-
Select a customer and add their items to the Shopping Cart.
-
Select Connect.
Note
If you're at a location where multiple Vagaro businesses have credit card readers, you may see more than one reader you can pair with.
To prevent connecting to the wrong reader and charging a customer from a different Vagaro business, check the serial number on the back of the WisePad 3 to make sure you pair with the correct reader:
-
Missing a step here where you select credit card reader.
-
Select Pair.
You will see a confirmation message when the reader has been successfully paired.
-
Select Pay with Card.
-
If your business asks for tips:
-
Ask the customer to select a Tip option. Select Split to split the tip if multiple service providers have been added to the Checkout screen.
-
If you selected Split, enter the amount for each employee, and then select Continue.
-
Select Next.
-
-
Ask the customer to sign on the screen, then select Charge Card.
-
Select or dip the card into the reader to process the payment.
When you connect a chip reader to a device, it assigns the reader to that specific device. If another business attempts to use that reader, they'll see a popup stating that the reader is assigned to another business. This means that the other business must unassign the reader first.
To unassign a reader:
-
Select
→ . -
At the bottom of the screen, select Unassign Reader to disconnect the reader from the device.
-
In the Unassign Reader popup, select Unassign.
Firmware updates keep your WisePad 3 current and secure with the media it connects with. When there is an update, you'll see a notification beside it in the More menu.
To update the firmware of the WisePad 3:
-
Select
→ . -
Select Install Now.
When the update has been completed, the device will auto-connect and display its latest firmware information.
