If you're selling products to customers online using your Online Shopping Cart, you'll need to configure shipping options and costs for those products.
Prerequisites: This feature requires Credit Card Processing and the Online Shopping Cart.
You select a shipping service to use in your Online Shopping Cart settings (see this article.) When you use the free shipping option for a product and enter an amount in Shipping and Handling, that amount is always charged for an online sale. When the customer checks out an online purchase, they are offered choices from the selected shipping vendor with various costs and shipping speeds. With Free Shipping on, one choice will always be Free Shipping.
If all products in a customer's shopping cart do not have the same shipping options set, they may see unexpected shipping results when checking out.
Example: ProdA has flat-rate shipping with a per-item surcharge. ProdB has free ground shipping and a $3.00 fee. With both items in their cart, they will see the Flat Rate and Shipping & Handling charges and can still select from shipping cost/speed options.
-
Go to Inventory Management:
-
In the App: Go to → → ,
-
On the Web: Hover over → , and then select Management.
-
-
Select Edit, hover over Mass Edit, and then select Flat Rate Shipping Price.
-
A popup list displays to show that the inventory can be broken down by the two drop-down menus showing All Brands and All Product Categorys.
Use all brands and product types to have this change affect every product you sell.
-
To set up true flat rate shipping, enter the amount that you want to apply to all online product purchases in the 1st Item Shipping Price box. Enter $0 into the Additional Item Shipping Price box.
-
Select Apply to save your shipping price totals. On the next screen, select Save to finish.
Note
Products with other shipping options will be changed to flat rate.
Now when a client makes a purchase online, they will be charged the true flat rate amount you entered.
Note
To charge one flat rate for all purchases follow the instructions above and turn on the Only Charge the Most Expensive “1st Item Shipping Fee” When Selling Multiple Items setting on the Online Shopping Cart page.
-
Go to Inventory Management:
-
In the App: Go to → → ,
-
On the Web: Hover over → , and then select Management.
-
-
Find the product on the inventory list. Select the Action menu. Then select Edit.
-
Toggle on Flat Rate Shipping. Once enabled, you’ll see two boxes: 1st Item Shipping Price and Additional Item Shipping Price. Enter an amount in the field for the 1st Item Shipping Price. When a customer purchases more than one of the products, an additional shipping price will be added. Select Submit to finished.
Now when customers purchase the product from your Vagaro Vagaro Listing Page, the flat rate shipping cost plus any additional shipping prices will display on the payment page. For example, if you purchase only one product the flat rate shipping would be $10, but if you purchased two, it would be $10 for the first item and $2 for the second, giving you a total of $12.
-
Go to
→ → . -
Scroll down to the Product Sales section, then toggle Only Charge the Most Expensive "1st Item Shipping Fee" When Selling Multiple Items on. When this setting is active and multiple items are in the cart, the most expensive first-item shipping price will be added, plus any additional unit shipping prices you've set.
-
Select Save to activate.

Here's why this is NOT 100% correctly set up: I use USPS Priority Mail. The choices are a small box, a medium box and a large box. Many small items can go in to a small box as long as they are not too wide. Otherwise, the medium box is generally good. So the pricing isn't dependent on HOW MANY of an item you are sending nor HOW EXPENSIVE one item is compared to another. Adding extra items to a Priority Mail shipment isn't a thing unless a business is using regular first class mail and no one I know uses first class mail to ship items out! There is no way of knowing which box will be used until the entire order is made so ordering online becomes impossible and this is why I cannot expand my online shopping presence!
Jennifer, I believe you are confusing this feature with the US Postal Service option called "Priority Mail Flat Rate". This feature is not related to their service, it can be used with any carrier. Many customers were asking for a flat rate they could charge customers for shipping if they were purchasing 1 item or 20 items, they didn't care if this did not cover the actual shipping cost because their product markup offsets any direct loss for the actual shipping price. To take advantage of the US Postal Service option you are referring to, I would not turn on this option and simply figure out what size box each item would fit in using their plan. It could end up costing the customer more in shipping if they are purchasing multiple items and they could all fit in say a large box together, but then you would make a profit on that particular order from the shipping as well. We have no way of knowing how many items could fit in a particular box, all shipping is based on standard shipping plans offered USPS, FedEx and UPS.
Give us an option to offer free shipping over a certain amount. Like $75+ equals free shipping.
