Securely check out clients and quickly process credit card payments with the Vagaro EMV reader when using a computer or the Desktop Version. To get started, follow these steps:
- Click Checkout at the top of the screen.
- Click Connect at the bottom of the page.
- Click Download to download the driver that is needed to connect the reader to the Vagaro account.
- Click Pay With Card on the Checkout screen once the installation is complete to process the payment with the EMV reader.

To connect it to a Windows or Mac computer, follow the instructions below.
Let's get started!
On a Windows Computer
1. Click Checkout at the top of the screen.
2. Click Connect at the bottom of the screen.
3. Click Download to download the Vagaro Pro Utility driver that is needed to connect the reader to the Vagaro account so you can securely process credit card transactions.
4. Click the file at the bottom of the screen to download the driver.
5. Click Install to accept the terms of the license agreement.
6. Click Finish once the installation is complete.
7. You can see that the Vagaro Pro Utility Application has been added as one of the icons on the Taskbar on the computer. A Blue Dot means that the reader has successfully connected to the Checkout screen of the Vagaro account. Click it to view more details.
8. After clicking the icon, you'll see a screen confirming that the reader is connected to the Vagaro account and the Firmware for the device is updated. You can also see the status of the reader's battery life.
9. If you see a Red Dot on the Vagaro Utility App, this means that the reader is not connected. Click the Vagaro icon to view more details.
10. Once you click the icon, you'll see the screen below. To troubleshoot, make sure the reader is connected to the USB port of the computer. Also, be sure to log onto the Checkout screen on your Vagaro account. If you're experiencing additional issues, click Send Diagnostics Log to notify the Vagaro development team.
11. Go to the Checkout screen of the Vagaro account once the download is complete. You'll notice that the Connect option now says Pay With Card. Click this to process the payment.
12. Click Print Tip Receipt to get a paper copy.
13. The customer can add a Tip as well as a Signature to the receipt.
14. Once the tip has been added to the paper Receipt, you can select it when processing the payment with the reader. Click Charge Card when you're ready.
15. The card can now be inserted through the chip reader.
16. You'll see a prompt telling you not to remove it while the transaction is being processed.
17. You're good to go! The transaction has been completed!
On a Mac Computer
1. Click Checkout at the top of the screen.
2. Click Connect at the bottom of the screen.
3. Click Download to download the driver that is needed to connect the reader to the Vagaro account.
4. Click the file once it appears at the bottom of the screen to download the Vagaro Pro Utility Application.
5. Before beginning the installation process, you'll see the introductory screen. Click Continue.
6. Select the language of your choice at the top of the screen. Then click Continue below.
7. Select Agree to agree to the terms of the Software License Agreement.
8. Click Continue after selecting the destination where you want to install the driver.
9. Click Install at the bottom of the screen.
10. Click Use Password.
11. Click Continue once you're finished.
12. The installation is now complete! Click Close.
13. You'll see that the Vagaro Pro Utility Application has been added as one of the icons on the Taskbar on your computer. A Blue Dot means that the reader has successfully connected to the Checkout screen of the Vagaro account. Click it to view more details.
14. Once you click the icon, you'll see a screen confirming that the reader is connected to the Vagaro account and the Firmware for the device is updated. You also can see the status of the reader's battery life.
15. A Red Dot means that the reader is not connected. Click the Vagaro icon to view more details.
16. Once you click the icon, you'll see a screen stating that the reader is not connected to the Vagaro account. To troubleshoot, make sure the reader is connected to the USB port of the computer.
Also, be sure to log onto to the Checkout screen on the Vagaro account. If you're experiencing additional issues, click Send Diagnostics Log to send a notification to the Vagaro development team.
17. Return to the Checkout screen once the download and installation are complete. You'll notice that the Connect option now says Pay With Card at the bottom-right of the screen. Click this to process the payment with the EMV reader.
18. Click Print Tip Receipt to allow the customer to add a tip to the paper copy of the receipt.
19. The customer can add a Tip as well as a Signature to the receipt.
20. Once the tip has been added by the client, you can select it when processing the payment with the reader. Click Charge Card when you're ready.
21. Insert the card through the chip reader.
22. Once the card has been inserted, you'll see a prompt telling you not to remove the item while the transaction is being processed.
23. You're all set! The transaction has been completed!
Troubleshooting
- Refresh the page.
- Try to log out of the account. Then log back in.
- Clear the web browser cache and cookies. (Click this link for more information - How to Clear the Cache and History on a Web Browser). Then try to log back into the account.
- Try to use a new browser. Then try logging into the account.
