Reward your customers for their business and loyalty by giving them points whenever they make a purchase. Customers can then redeem these points for more services, classes, and products you offer, which incentivizes them to visit your business more often. Customers can also collect points by purchasing items on your menu, referring customers, and leaving a review on your Vagaro Listing Page.
Points cannot be directly assigned to service bundles. Instead, the total number of points awarded for each item will be given, and the corresponding total number of points will be needed to redeem items in the bundle. For example, a service bundle comprised of three services, each granting 10 points each and 20 points to redeem, would give customers 30 points for purchasing the bundle (10 points x 3 services) and require 60 points to (20 points x 3 services) redeem to get it for free.
Prerequisites: This feature requires at least one service and/or class already created and active.
Note
In the Vagaro Pro app, you must edit each employee's service offerings individually to change the points given and redeemed. If you go directly to
→ → and change points for a service, you are updating ONLY the employee whose calendar is currently displayed. To assign points to services or classes:
-
Go to
→ → → . -
Select Employees to view the employee list.
-
Select the employee's profile.
-
In the employee's profile, select the Action menu, then select Services.
Note
If the employee works for multiple multiple locations, select the Action menu for the location to edit services for.
-
Select Services or Classes.
-
Select the service or class to add points, then select Edit.
-
Scroll down to the Points Given and Points Redeem options and enter or edit both.
For example, to reward customers with a free service after ten purchases, enter 10 in Points Given and 100 in Points Redeemed for that service. These settings mean that a customer will get 10 points each time they purchase that item, and once they have 100 points, they can get it for free.
-
Select Save.
-
Repeat this procedure for each service provider whose services will give points.
Points for services and classes can be assigned in an employee's profile or in the Service/Class Menu screen, which will also show an overview of all service providers' prices and points for their services and classes.
To assign points to services or classes:
-
Go to
→ → . -
If the employee works for multiple locations, select the blue Location link
-
At the end of the row of the employee's profile, select the Action menu, then select Services.
Note
If the employee works for multiple multiple locations, select the employee's blue Locations link, then select the Action menu for the location to edit services for.
-
Update the Points Given and Points Redeem for employee's services and classes.
-
Scroll down to the Performed By table and enter the number of Points Given and Points Redeem for each employee who offers this service or class.
For example, to reward customers with a free service after ten purchases, enter 10 in Points Given and 100 in Points Redeemed for that service. These settings mean that a customer will get 10 points each time they purchase that item, and once they have 100 points, they can get it for free.
-
Select Save.

Is there a way for clients to still receive points if we book the services for them? We have many clients who re-book with us after checkout instead of doing it themselves and I have noticed not all of them are receiving points.
I would love to know this too!
Hi Melissa and Amanda,
Points are only assigned to a Client's profile after they have been checked out for a Service, not when booking or re-booking unfortunately. If you want to ensure they are receiving their correct number of points, you will want to make sure that you check out their Appointments on the Checkout screen, even if you did not process their payment using Vagaro.
I’m having an issue with points only being given to some people at checkout. I’ve made sure that I have points applied to each service and it still will only apply to some people- even people receiving the same service that the points worked with for other people. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong.
Bailee... I created a support ticket for this issue. I looked around your account and can't see anything wrong, but I'm not as knowledgeable as our support agents. Hoping that one of them can help you figure it out!
Is there a way for clients to use points to pay for part of a service, rather than only being able to get a free service? For those of us who provide larger dollar value services, this needs to be a thing.
Hi Tracy:
No, the system doesn't provide a way to do this. Two things to suggest: Look at the New Feature Requests pages. There are lots of suggestions relating to points, which you could upvote to endorse.
I can think of a manual workaround that's not ideal, but could let you do something like this now:
You can add a discount or even change the price of a service on the checkout screen. You can see the points balance of each customer when you're checking them out, as well. You could add a discount based on a set number of points to the checkout and then, in the Customer Profile screen, edit their points to deduct the number "used" for the discount.
Certainly not ideal, I understand. And I'm not sure how to make that work with a customer directly booking online (you can still use your checkout to complete their purchase.)
I just ran a test service with my points on 2 different techs. It looks like clients only receive points if they rebook with the same tech? I'm trying to set up a couple of services with all techs (each booking regardless of tech they receive points for the same service)?
Hi Jessica, I created a ticket for this issue and you'll be contacted by our support folks. I just don't know the answer to this one! Sorry.
Hi Donna...I am looking for some points exapmples...do you have a cheat sheet or something similar? I'd like some tips on how many points to give on services and products as well as redemption values. Thank you!
Hi Kim...
We don't currently have a cheat sheet on how many points to give customers; however, that is something we can look into in the future. As a general suggestion, point amounts are whatever you want them to be! Do you want to create incentives for customers to make larger purchases? Then, maybe give more points for more expensive items. If you want customers to redeem their points less frequently, increase the points redeem amount for services and classes. Do you want to reward your regular customers? Decrease the points redeem value for popular items. There are many ways you can set up your points system; no business is the same in this aspect! Hopefully, this helped. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Thanks,
Jamie
I was hoping for some tips on setting up the point system as well. My brain hurts from all the maf :O but seriously would be helpful if you had some examples beyond 10x10=reward. Please let me know if you do! I can't seem to find a google search term that understands what I'm looking for lol
Hi Heather,
Here's an example: Let's say you award your customers 1 point for every $1 spent. Then, you can make a range based on the services you offer. It's ultimately your decision on how you want to build your points system.
Reward Tiers:
Thanks, Jamie
is there a way to reward clients with points for booking online?
Hi Jamie,
While there isn't a way to reward customers for booking online vs. in-house, customers can still receive points for any services they book online once it's been checked out in-house, as long as you've assigned points to them.
Thanks,
Jamie
