Start accepting payments with Vagaro by signing up for Credit Card Processing. Vagaro offers competitive rates and many other benefits, including charging credit cards, storing customers' credit cards on file, setting up recurring membership or package plans, and more. To help businesses start processing payments, anyone who signs up for credit card processing can order a free credit card reader.
Signing up for Credit Card Processing will take you out of the free trial.
Prerequisites: This feature is available for all Vagaro businesses.
Before you begin the signup process, make sure you have the following handy:
A mobile device with a camera: You will need a mobile phone or tablet to complete the application. You will also need to scan a QR code. If your device's camera does not scan QR codes, you'll need to download an app that can.
Valid ID: Examples include your passport, driver's license, ID card, residency permit card, and temporary visa.
Bank Login Information: To prevent application denials, you must log in to your online bank banking through Plaid. This process is required to verify your banking information before submitting your application.
Medical License (Optional): Chiropractors, chiropractic offices, medical services, health practitioners, and med spa businesses will need to take a picture of their medical license to complete their applications.
All customers who sign up for Credit Card Processing can order a free credit card reader.
To begin your application:
Go to the Credit Card Processing signup page:
On Vagaro Pro: Go to → .
On the Web: Hover over Settings, then select Credit Card Processing.
Select Get Started.
Choose your Vagaro hardware and then select Continue, or select I'll Do This Later to skip this step.
After choosing your Vagaro hardware, you must enter some information about your business. If you aren't sure what to enter, the sections below can help clarify.
The "type of merchant" is your business's structure and the legal designation for your business required by the government.
Sole Proprietor (Self-Employed): Someone who owns and runs a business alone; however, if you select Sole Proprietor, this does not mean you have to work alone.
Limited Liability Company (LLC): A business type that protects business owners from personal responsibility for their business's debts and liabilities while providing better tax advantages than a sole proprietor.
Private Corporation (Privately Owned Business): Your business must file Articles of Incorporation to create a business entity with the IRS.
Public Corporation (Publicly Traded on the Stock Market): Your business must file Articles of Incorporation to create a business entity with the IRS.
Sole Proprietor businesses do not need to enter a Legal Business Name. Learn more from the Small Business Administration.
The Employer Identification Number (EIN) is a unique nine-digit number assigned by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to businesses working in the U.S. It's used to identify taxpayers required to file various business tax returns. Learn more from the IRS.
Sole Proprietorship businesses do not require an EIN to submit their application.
Your Business Category is based on the services and products you sell. Select the best industry type that fits your service/class offerings.
Your processing volume determines your merchant size: Small Merchant (less than $4000) or Large Merchant (more than $4000). These two merchant account types have different processing rates and fees. You should review our Credit Card Processing Fees and Rates before continuing.
After entering your business details, you must scan a QR code to continue the application on your phone or tablet.
Vagaro has partnered with Plaid to provide your business with better security and a more streamlined signup process. Plaid will automatically populate your information without the need to fill out any forms.
After verifying your identity, you must connect your bank with Vagaro. To do so, log in to your online banking through Plaid. This helps verify and set up your merchant account for bank deposits and prevent failed deposits and application denials.
You must manually enter your account and routing number if you can't sign in to your online banking through Plaid.
A medical License is required for businesses accepting HSA/FSA payments.
As stated above, chiropractors, chiropractic offices, medical services, health practitioners, and med spa businesses must take a picture of their medical license to complete the application. You can either take a picture of your license or upload an image from your device.
Order your products to complete the application.
You can now order the hardware you selected at the beginning of the application. You can select Back to Hardware to modify, add, or remove items from your cart. Keep in mind that you can order your free credit card reader at any time; this offer does not expire.
Both commission-based and paid employees do not need their own merchant account, but self-employed or booth renter employees are encouraged to sign up on their own.
Employees must sign in to their Vagaro account (not the business owner's) to apply. If you sign up for credit card processing while logged as the business owner, the application will be submitted under the business owner.
